Using keywords to increase your chances to be found

Using effective keywords in your title and your page content is most important for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This means that if you are selling something like Hawaiian hats, you would add keyword such as "Hawaiian hats, Hawaiian clothing, straw hats, straw hat manufacturing, etc" you get the point. Here are some tips:
  • Think about who will benefit from your products. What would you type in to find your product? Do searches before you add your meta-tags.
  • Use accurate key words. Try to leaving out "and" and "the" or just "hats" because these terms are much to vague. People who are looking for your items will most times be very specific in their searches.
  • Try to include misspelled, capitalized, and plural keywords. Use a variation of keywords. Often times people may find you when they had misspell a word.
  • Check out your competitor’s web site. See what they are using and how effective their pages are. This will give you an idea of what keyword may work for your site. Take a look at their script.

Check out Digital Point's Keyword Suggestion Tool, which has results from both Overture and WordTracker, https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal-Google's Keyword Tool is also very useful
